Brympton d'Evercy Fireworks 2009
The architectural writer for Country Life once called Brympton d’Evercy “the most beautiful house in England”, and when you sweep though the trees, round the bend, and descend the short slope from the long main driveway you are presented with a truly beautiful scene. The materials, the proportions, the light, the colours: just the whole atmosphere of the place – it seems to be intrinsically perfect, almost an idealised theatre set crafted by someone striving to create an unpretentious English country estate.
When the current owners bought the Somerset property and opened it for exclusive weddings, events (and filming) they were happy to allow fireworks, just as long as it didn’t upset the local residents, be they swans, cows or humans. We popped down to demonstrate the quieter end of the range of fireworks we use, and came up with an approved list from which we can create beautiful displays without rattling the windows and annoying the neighbours. So far all of our displays at Brympton have been choreographed to custom soundtracks chosen by the bride and groom. Music really helps add to the whole experience, especially when the fireworks are relatively quiet and they don’t overpower the music.
Karl and Jo’s wedding, for example, featured an eclectic mix of artists including Pavarotti , Evanescence, Bryan Adams and Take That. Karl is a fireworks fan and interested in the show design side of things, so we programmed a digital preview of the display to help him visualise what we were planning to produce: it helps to cut through the jargon and present the proposed show in terms that everyone can understand.
