Glenn Plume, Display Director and Company Owner of Alchemy Fireworks
Glenn Plume is Display Director of Alchemy Fireworks, and along with Rob Farrow he is one of the company's founders and owners. He has a long and impressive professional firework display CV, but he retains the enthusiasm and passion of a genuine firework lover. As a young man, in the days when Health & Safety was a mere glint in the reflective strap of a high vis jacket,Glenn spent every spare penny he had on fireworks, before he had the bright idea that working for a firework company would mean he would actually get paid for setting off fireworks, rather than the reverse.
He has never looked back since, although he does sometimes long for the days when you could set off 6” shells in the back garden of a terraced house in Dagenham, and put on a firework display in the street for your next door neighbour's wedding.
Now, after more than 14 years as a professional pyrotechnician Glenn has matured and mellowed into one of the best firework display designers in the UK, and become rather more conscious of Health & Safety, we should add – he is BPA Level 2 qualified, the highest qualification currently available in the UK firework industry. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of firework effects and a penchant for displays that are fired to music using a digital firing system. In the office Glenn also looks the management of the company finances and display operations.
Glenn’s enthusiasm for fireworks burns brighter than ever, and at most displays he can be heard “oo-ing” “aah-ing” or exclaiming “look at that!” over the radio whilst also cueing the display! Glenn's favourite displays include the Leeds Castle Bonfire Night Fireworks Events in Kent, the Christmas Fireworks Display at Haverhill in Suffolk, and the New Year's Eve Firework Display in Leeds.
